The Department of Physics was established in 1991. Presently, the Department supports the Integrated certificate diploma (ICD) program, undergraduate program (B.E) of the institute and offers MSc. and Ph.D. programme in Physics. The aim of the department is to provide quality education to the youngsters so that they can contribute in the development of the nation. We not only aim on theoretical knowledge but also provide the students, exposure to the developing society so that they can build their future in a better way.

The doctoral and master students are mentored in diverse areas of both theoretical and experimental physics, viz. nuclear and radiation physics, solid state physics, plasma physics, microwave etc.

OBJECTIVES

To impart quality education in physics and material science to the budding engineers.
To strengthen the skills in basic measurements by exposing the students to well equipped labs and enhance the problem solving ability through interactive tutorial classes.
To strengthen research activity by the faculty members in areas of interest.

VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT

To impart state-of-the-art knowledge of physics to create competency and skills.

MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department of physics is committed to impart quality education both in theoretical as well as experimental physics with special emphasis on “learning by doing” for socio-economic growth.
